Something shines in us human beings …
At the time of writing, the old year is fast saying goodbye, and the new one is already shining on the horizon. And in this spirit, and inspired by the last concert of Siddharta – probably the most famous local rock band, from which I borrowed this year’s title (from the song ‘Picnic’) – in 2023, I would like to focus on ‘the shining in us humans’ and how we can really shine in our full glory.
The world of polarity
Yes, 2023 was certainly a busy year. Very eventful. And as befits the world of polarity – full of every shade of the emotional palette. One should not turn a blind eye to the conflicts, which, in addition to the two major ones most often mentioned on the international stage (Israel-Palestine and Russia-Ukraine), according to the Geneva Academy, number more than a hundred worldwide (https://geneva-academy.ch/galleries/today-s-armed-conflicts)). Then there are the ‘climate developments’, where countries still cannot agree on action to preserve the climate and the ecosystem, including at the expense of phasing out fossil fuels, and the recent UN COP 28 climate conference in Dubai, where the world’s media was full of screaming headlines about the state and future of the planet, which – if one is not in the best position – at the very least give one a lump in the throat.
But on the other hand, serious or. serious situations lead to action by individuals and/or groups who dare to stand up to something they clearly do not agree with (anymore), or. fearlessly stand up for what they love and/or believe in. A case in point is the case of the six young Portuguese men (aged 11-24) who took 33 countries to the European Court of Human Rights in the autumn, alleging that their fundamental human rights are being violated by their “failure to fight” climate change. The young people come from Leiria, Portugal, where more than 100 people died in massive fires in 2017. The lawsuit, supported by environmental organisations, assesses that forest fires in Portugal are a direct result of climate change, which also causes frequent storms in winter (summarised from: www.dnevnik.si/1043033224). This is not an isolated case when it comes to young people and their mobilisation (although the case is precedent-setting in the sense that a group of young people have brought such a case before the European Court of Human Rights, and it is the first time that such a large group of countries has been in the dock), as similar cases (also groundbreaking for the local environment) have been brought in the past year in several US states and in Canada.
Well, in Slovenia, we know very well the cases when people in need have shown compassion, solidarity and concrete mobilisation – in 2023, it was in the floods. Yes, unfortunately, we are still, or at least we were. We are also here in the climate and in the world. weather change. Because they do not know national borders. It is one planet, one global space, whatever differences we may feel in our cultural, political, economic or otherwise divided and stratified worlds. Just as we choose the latter entirely on our own, so too do we agree to live in a world of polarities.
(Piknik, Siddharta)
But … It doesn’t have to be that way!
Despite all this, I am optimistic about the future of humanity, starting in 2024.
For I recognise in every individual a magnificent being with a fascinating organism, which, in addition to the mind and the body, is made up of the soul, and it is the soul level that is guided by the unconditional love with which our souls are actually merged.
That is why I believe that it will blossom when we realise, on the mental (and consequently physical) level, that there is simply no other way than to surrender to Love.
To realise that the fear that drives today’s society, which is consequently driven to more and more, while losing touch with its own being, is no longer useful.
On the contrary, it is destructive, as the facts about armed conflicts mentioned in the introduction confirm.
Even if some of them are motivated by conflict situations (and this applies not only to war zones, but also to smaller conflicts that happen, say, in a traffic jam), and even love is behind them – for example, when someone honks his horn furiously at the driver in the car in front of him, even if he is driving in a tight column, and the ‘honker’ is so restless because he just wants to get home for dinner with his loved ones as soon as possible, then the ‘bigger case’ is really a soldier, who wants to protect loved ones in a war zone, or who goes to war because he is afraid of the regime he lives under and therefore wants to protect his own life in this way (and again out of love) – it is really up to us – the ‘shining people’ – how we decide and consequently act in advance, where we take this common future and the common vibration that creates this common space, this common planet.
Once again – one and only.
And no, it does not care about the world of polarity that we have created with our own free will.
Once we realise that it is this free will that gives us a power far greater than what we think we are, once we agree to a system of ‘rattling’ (both in the sense of chasing more and more like a hamster in a wheel, and actually ‘rattling’ things we don’t need – do you see the paradox in that?), we might (u)see that everyone can activate themselves according to their conscience and their capacity in their own field of work.(o)f work.
Like the six young Portuguese.
This is by no means an invitation to file lawsuits en masse (Slovenians are already too ‘litigious’ as it is), but to activate a life of one’s own making and inspired by one’s own soul.
Because on the soul level we are all the same, we are all One, and this One is guided by (and even represented by) – unconditional love.
When we realise this, really understand it and really internalize it, fear will finally become what the famous saying goes – hollow, and around it nothing.
As a result, there will be no need for conflict, and action to preserve the planet, our earthly home, will be a matter of course.
Illusion or reality?
Hja, odločitev za to je – skladno s svobodno voljo – kakopak na vsakem posamezniku. Sama si bom pa zavrtela Siddhartin Piknik: www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6Vn6eChHbU. 😀
Namely, if our own vibration is high, then by a law of nature it will be high, or at least a higher vibration around us, and that includes other people.
So 2024 invites us to test this thesis and take human society and our ecosystem, and thus our life together, to a higher level.
And so that this does not read too abstractly, let me give you some very simple practical examples of techniques and tools to do just that (yes, the sparrows on the roof may indeed be chirping about these, but have you incorporated any of them into your daily life?).
- Meditation – There are already countless options on YouTube (YT) to choose a meditation tailored to your needs, but the simplest one doesn’t even require YT – close your eyes and focus on your heartbeat, and as you progress, on a point 30 cm above your temple (in Ayurveda, we highly recommend the Transcendental Meditation, which you can sign up for in your town or nearby, and in shamanism we practice some literally fantastic shamanic journeys);
- Practising gratitude – Writing a gratitude journal or at least having a disciplined practice of thinking every day (preferably in the morning while we are still in bed or at night before we fall asleep) about what we are grateful for – it could be literally taking out the garbage or chatting with a neighbour;
- A ‘tailor-made’ routine – Whether it’s morning yoga or an evening bath, a beauty routine (you’re not just on this page! J), reading (non-toxic!) books, cooking…, fidelity, which can also be called discipline, to a pure routine results in greater self-love, which leads us to – believe it or not – a complete sense of freedom;
- Movement – Running or other sports in groups and/or in nature – because we are free!
- Conscious breathing – when life becomes seemingly overwhelming, we still have the power of the breath, despite any feelings of helplessness, and it does require willpower (but that is completely in our hands too!), so we focus – for training, several times a day – on our own breathing.
Let’s just observe and nurture it.
Let’s literally breathe Life! - Questioning how we – every day gives us the opportunity to ask ourselves how we are — really: how are we?
And further, what you can do to be better or – ideally – to maintain or deepen that state.
Again: here too the power is in your hands, even if you feel that you are still constrained by external circumstances / let’s just start within a framework that is synchronous with the apparent circumstances, but over time even the (again: apparent!) external boundaries will begin to loosen.
You can add your own bullet points to the list as you wish, but it is essential to remember that we are the ones who have the power to act for ourselves, for others and for the world.
The more we cultivate (self-)love within ourselves, the more we will be able to give it out — and no, energy (in this case in the form of love) simply cannot be spent or used up.
It is not to be consumed, so no worries about that or about the lack of it.
If we take care of ourselves, then our fountain of love is full of abundance every moment (for as the micro within the macro, we are also or precisely the Source itself).
After the love of my life landed in a coma exactly a year ago and then physically left this world after a month, believe me I know what I am talking about when I talk about the fact that even the deepest sadness (which carries an extremely low frequency) as well as anger and guilt (these two feelings resp. I believe that these two emotions have an even lower frequency than sadness), can be overcome by transforming the energy generated by the whole emotional conglomerate in such a situation into Good.
Into Love.
Unconditional Love.
With which we merge – consciously or not.
To connect with reality (with permission), I’d like to share a great note sent to me by my good friend Franci at the end of 2023:
»Stvar v 2024 bo enostavna. A kljub vsemu bo treba ostati pokončen in se umikati levo in desno, pa morda korak nazaj in strumno naprej. Pa saj to je naše bistvo!«
To conclude, here is another nice link between the title of this entry and Dobr(odeln)im: Tomi Meglič, the ‘frontman’ of Siddharta, and Miha Guštin – Gušti performed a charity concert ‘1 on 1’ in mid-October on the Mažije hill by Lake Gradiška, where they waived their fees, The organiser also donated part of the proceeds of the charity purse to the Lunina Vila organisation, which provides psychotherapeutic support to traumatised children (more: www.mojaobcina.si/lukovica/novice/mazijev-gric-zakljucil-koncertno-sezono-z-dobrodelno-noto-gustija-in-tomija-ter-dobrodelnim-kostanjevim-piknikom.html).
Yes, that is why I believe in what shines in us human beings. And so I wish you as much radiance as possible in 2024. Each and every one of us can shine to our full potential, despite the most emotionally painful experiences. They are often even the main catalyst for personal rebirth.
And there’s probably no doubt that your skin will be glowing too, depending on which website you’ve landed on to read this. Warmest love and all the best for the New Year!
